Merry Christmas 2015

We got back from our trip to Michigan this past Sunday, and I had the BEST Christmas present waiting for me upon our return….. FOURTEEN NEW CHRISTMAS CARDS!?!   For 11 months of the year, I could care less about our mail.  On Dec. 1st, my ears become attuned to the squeak our mailbox makes as the mail man opens and closes it with his daily deposit, and I’m not far on his heels picking it up.   As much as I love receiving cards, I’m not always SUPER diligent in getting them out.  Last year I had all the best intentions, but never got around to it.  This year, I had them the week following Thanksgiving, and STILL barely got them out the week before Christmas?!?

Kevin get’s the stank eye when he sneaks one and opens it.  I’m not quite evolved enough yet to want to share this part of the season.  I’ve explained a few times that if I’m the one creating, ordering, compiling addresses, addressing, licking, stamping, and mailing….. Then it should go without saying that I’m the one opening.  It doesn’t usually go without saying.  When we pulled into the driveway, with a car FULL of stuff and crazy kids, I made a beeline to the mailbox (I grabbed Selah…. I didn’t ditch him entirely ;)) to collect my bounty, and parked my butt at the kitchen table to ogle over all the beautiful family pictures!

Desiree came back today (hence the time to write a blog), and was admiring our collection.  I told her they were my favorite part of the season….. Next to the birth of Jesus and all, of-course.  If you sent us one…. THANK YOU!  If you need our address so we can be added to future mailing lists, comment and I’ll send you an email. (Courtney D….. let me know if you didn’t get my email, I’ll send our address again).  You can give me your address too, and I’ll add you to our list (though occasionally some bounce back to me with outdated addresses…. so there is a second batch in the mail right now).  I have to admit, I’m VERY partial to the picture cards…. I think everyone should send picture cards.  Lord knows we’re in enough pictures a year now, pick your favorite and put it in a card.  I don’t mean to be insensitive to people that don’t want a picture of just themselves, but pick your favorite picture of you with family, or friends, or on a trip, or doing something you LOVE.  There is just something about seeing the faces of people I love, especially when I don’t get to see them near often enough.  I want FACES!

Our trip home was a fun blur.  We only stayed for a week this year, which turned out to be a good decision, given Selah and I could NOT come to an agreement on sleep schedules.  After not sleeping for a week, my bed never felt so good!  My Christmas present from Kevin was a new lenses for my camera, so I’m attaching some of my favorite pics when I got to practice using it!DSC_1986 DSC_1994 DSC_1997 DSC_1999 DSC_2154

Thanks everyone for an incredible visit home!  Special shout out to Crazy Poppy for letting us take over his house for the first 2/3rds of the visit, probably the only way my sanity was able to stay in tact as long as it did!!!

2016….. Let’s DO THIS!
